MATTE-fied: A Review on the Etude House Help My Finger Matte Top Coat

I'm getting to be quite a fan of matte nail polish albeit its so-so staying power. Of course, how can you demand for it to stay for long without a proper top coat?

With my two casefuls of polishes already, I'm hesitant to buy matte polishes in different shades. My collection is already a little too much as it is, heehee, although I would love to play with different shades. Good thing somebody came up with the matte top coat! Whoever came up with this invention, I give you three gold stars. :) (anodaw?)

Since I don't want to invest too much in this (given that I only have 10 fingernails and 10 toenails), I'm glad to have found an affordable option in Etude House Help My Finger Matte Top Coat.

What it is:

This smoothing top coat hides ridges and imperfections with a matte finish. Can apply over high-gloss nail polish to give nails unique, matte texture. 

Directions: 

As a base coat, apply over bare nails.
As a matte top coat, apply 1-2 coats on dry nail and thoroughly dry for minimum 2-3 minutes.

Thoughts:
Effective and no-fuss. It does what's it supposed to do. Check.
It dries in around a minute or two. No messy and gunky smeared nails!
Practically priced. A 10 ml bottle will cost you less than 300 pesos. Still cheaper than buying bottles of matte polishes.
Chemical smell. This is something that we've all dealt with with other nail polishes but just giving you a heads up that it can give you a headache (it gave me one).

I recommend that you let your polish dry first for around 30 minutes before coating it with this just so that you're sure of the polish being completely dry.

Will I repurchase?
If I'm still into the matte fad when I finish this bottle, yes I definitely would! :)

Matte nail polish was all the rage like last season ago and even before; here I am discovering the trend just now. What can I say, better late than never, right? :p

'Too late the hero' ang peg. CHOS. :D

Anyway, I picked up a cute polish from Etude House - a good shade of green (nothing too grassy or moldy for my taste) - thinking that I can pull it off even in the office. On days, of course, when I do not have meetings, hehehe. I tried it on recently and the shade was still as cute as it looked like when I tested it a few weeks back. Only this time, it was a little too bright for my taste. Hmmm.

My quick fix-it? A matte top coat! I'm glad that I came up with a more subdued shade afterwards, still green but the matte finish lent sophistication to it. It became a little more office-friendly. Here's a comparison and you be the judge which is better. :)

P.S. This is really supposedly a bluegreen-ish shade but my camera phone just washed the green out completely and made it look like sky blue. :)))) Excuse the messy application.

One word this week: HECTIC. I wasn't even able to push through with yesterday's dinner and show at Barbara's which I was so excited about. Nonetheless, I don't want my poor blog shriveling up just when I've started to feel a wee bit more passion for writing again.

NYX Lipstick is a favorite among bloggers - known for its affordable price range as well as the substantial quality that comes with it. Finally, I have had the time (and resources) to try this out for myself. :) Thanks to Skye Avenue for providing me my NYX fix (at a very affordable price too!). :)

Since I primarily just wanted to try this out first, I bought just two lippies: Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose and Soft Matte Lip Cream in Pink Peach Fuzz. Allow me to rave about the Matte Lipstick in this post. :)
